- Supports the investigation, research, and/or analysis of new technology to determine the need for modifications or improvement to existing equipment/systems.
- Supports determining the feasibility of introducing new equipment, processes, or technologies into the current production environment.
- Supports the planning and/or design of automated production equipment or systems, such as instruments, controls, machines, and mechanical or electrical systems.
- Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by applying knowledge of electricity, materials, and end-user process. Performs calculations to determine power, ampacity, voltage, wire and conduit sizing for circuits.
- Creates basic mechanical/ electrical/ process components and/or equipment designs by applying knowledge of engineering principles.
- Possesses basic knowledge of PLC, HMI, and robot programming. May create new, basic programs or edit existing programs with guidance.
- Creates flow charts, timing charts, functional specifications, etc. to define program steps.
- Implements methods and approaches in developing design calculations, layouts, drawings, and specifications that support project objectives and standards. Updates drawings and documentation to as-built conditions.
- Creates basic design files in 2D CAD for electrical components and simple systems.
