HDR is currently in need of an experienced Water / Wastewater Project Engineer to work as a key representative of the Mid-Atlantic Water Business Group (WBG). The successful candidate will be expected to work as a team member for preliminary engineering, studies, detailed design and construction services for water / wastewater treatment plants, developing proposals (e.g. scope and fee), and pumping stations. The candidate will have an immediate opportunity to begin developing skillsets associated with Project Management, Design Management, and client-facing responsibilities by supporting a variety of Senior Project Managers and Client Managers in our business group.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Water/Wastewater Project Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Assist and lead designs that are multi-disciplinary from concept, planning, design, and through completion of construction
  • Process mechanical design
  • Hydraulic and other design calculations
  • Preparation of design drawings and technical specifications
  • Equipment selection and evaluation
  • Construction cost estimation
  • Construction administration services, including field inspections, shop drawing reviews, and coordination with contractors through request for information reviews, field orders, work change directives, and change orders.
  • Perform other duties as needed

HDR's Mid-Atlantic WBG is engaged with clients across Maryland and Virginia to deliver some of their largest and most critical infrastructure projects as well as many opportunities with various basic ordering agreements. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience designing and creating plans and specifications for water and wastewater projects and drinking water related projects
  • PE license
  • Must have excellent communication skills and thrive working in a team environment
  • A personality, disposition, and commitment to being an active participant of our client-focused employee-owned culture
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree preferred
  • 5 years experience strongly preferred
  • Experience utilizing Revit, Civil 3D, hydraulic software/tools, pump selection software/tools as a part of project delivery
  • Project and design management (i.e. lead multi-discipline designs) skills
  • Preference given to local candidates
