Job Description

Electrical Engineer, Design IV provides expert judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of technical products and systems. Resolves highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research. They recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Considered an expert in complex technical matters. Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group.

Job Requirements
  • Design and develop maritime engineering system Installation Requirements Drawings (IRD), Wiring Diagrams, Technical Data Packages (TDP), and Ship Installation Drawings (SID)support for new and existing products.
  • Research and analyze data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Drive design activities and develop solutions for electrical related activities.
  • Actively participate in the build, troubleshooting / testing of new products and provide solutions to technical problems.
  • Enhance existing products for improved functionality, cost reduction and manufacturability.
  • Gather and analyze data with ability to format and present to customers both internally and externally.
  • Develop solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying electrical systems, investigating problem areas; following the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with other team members to define requirements and develop test solutions.
  • Drive the development of qualification test procedures and carry out qualification testing.
  • Troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems and create troubleshooting instructions.
  • Prepare reports of results and conclusions for management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs)
*Capable of electrical design, prototype fabrication and testing. *Knowledge of specifications, drawings, and associated applications. *Strong communications (written, verbal, listening, presentation, and team) skills. *Ability to implement and verify high quality designs in a timely; cost effective manner. *Computer skills, MS Office, AutoCad or ORCAD, etc. *Must have the ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing. *Must have the ability to work under deadline pressures and meet project objectives within a reasonable schedule. *Good knowledge of electrical theories, design principles and practices and design evaluation techniques. *Excellent project and time management skills.
